Floral Inspiration
There are many inspirations for my Flora collection of paintings. I enjoy nature and I am continuously amazed by the diversity and complexity of all plant life. I collect plants and flowers not only for their beauty and inspiration, but to study the anatomy of each plant that will star in my paintings. Sometimes it is the lovely aroma wafting from the plants as I pass them on a walk that makes me turn and take a closer look, other times, the vibrant color, unique texture, the fabulous shape, or location where it is growing makes me take notice. I also love visiting and supporting the botanical gardens where I live and in different cities whenever I travel . The painting of the Lady Slipper Orchid above, Pretty in Pink, was inspired by the fantastic florals at the Royal Botanical Gardens Kew, UK.
